• Starting the Game
  • Select the instruction window overlay to close it.
  • Drag the card from the lower right into one of the columns to start playing.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Use your mouse left click button to select a card from the bottom and drag it onto one of the stacks.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap the screen with a finger to select a card and drag it onto one of the stacks.
  • Controls & indicators
    • Your current score is shown in the top center of the screen.
    • Underneath your score there is a level status bar which shows your current level, the next level, and how close you are to leveling up.
    • Your all time high score is shown below the level status bar.
    • The lower left column has 3 buttons for undoing moves, hints, and visiting the welcome screen.
    • The lower right has the discard pile. It is brown if both slots are open, half red if one slot is open, or completely red if both slots are used.
• Game Play
  • Basics
    • This is a card-based version of 2048, where players have 4 columns to work with on the tableau.
      • You can be dealt cards of any value from 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, or 512.
        • Typically you are dealt cards of lower values more frequently than cards of higher values.
        • Periodically you are dealt a hammer card, which is a wildcard matching the value of the card on the bottom of any stack you lay it.
      • Cards may be laid on any of the stacks, without regard to the value of other cards on the stack.
        • Typically you want to lay cards in descending order so that they can merge into the above values via a chain reaction, though sometimes it is not easy to keep order.
      • When 2 cards of the same value are laid atop each other they merge into a single card worth twice as much.
        • Your merges can set off a chain reaction.
    • Discarding
      • In the lower right there is a discard pile where you can discard up to 2 cards which are hard to lay.
      • The stack will appear brown if neither discard is in use, half red if one is used, and completely red if both are used.
      • Whenever you create a 2048 any cards in the discard pile are cleared away & you have 2 discard credits again.
    • 2048
      • Once you have merged your way to 2048 the 2048 card is removed from the tableau & any other cards that are in that same column are also removed.
  • Leveling up
    • The first level up happens at 500 points & unlocks the light button.
    • Later level ups add move undo credits.
    • As you progress through the game the score needed to reach incremental levels increases geometrically.
      • The second upgrade is at 2,500 points.
      • At 23,000 you get to level 10.
      • At 1,620,000 you reach level 15.
  • Losing
    • You play the game until one of your card stacks on the tableau has more than 9 cards on it which do not merge into each other.
    • Provided you lay strategically you can play for hours on end.
  • Tips
    • Discards
      • Don’t be afraid to use the discard stack.
      • Use it whenever needed to ensure your stacks remain in descending order, especially if the next up card is needed to make a long chain reaction or clear out a stack.
      • It can also make sense to use the discard pile when you have an open stack or two and the card to play is of low value which does not fit on any of your existing stacks.
    • High-valued cards
      • If you have a high valued card on a stack (e.g. 256 or higher) try not to put any cards below it unless each card underneath matches the card directly above it or is half the value of the card above it.
      • Leaving high-valued cards exposed or having everything under them be in sequential descending order allows you to use the hammer card.
    • Out of order stacks
      • As best you can try to keep cards in descending order in each of the stacks.
      • If you must make out of order stacks it is best to have 1 or 2 ugly stacks way out of order and have the remaining stacks clean.
      • If a stack gets messy and out of order try to put a high value card at the bottom of it & keep matching it with same-valued cards or hammer cards until you have reached 2048 and cleared the stack.
    • Clearing the correct stack
      • If you are building up toward 2048 it is best to lay to a stack where you can set off a chain reaction to use many cards and score many points.
      • If you have the same highest value card at the bottom of multiple stacks it is typically best to play onto the stack which has the most cards in it so that you clear away many cards from the tableau.
