• Starting the Game
  • Press any key or click on the loading screen to bring up the welcome screen.
  • Press the gray and white START button on the welcome screen to bring up the player select screen.
    • Choose to play a game with 1, 2, or 3 local human players.

  • Basics
    • This is an endless survival game set in the ocean.
    • Your goal is to eat as much fish food and as many other fish as you can while avoiding hazards like floating mines & avoiding touching a stronger fish that will eat you.
      • Each time you eat a fish you score points & your fish becomes stronger.
      • The health gain is not a pure sum, but typically has you add a bit. For example, if you are health 43 and eat a health 41 fish your health might go to 45 or 46.
      • Your health never goes down until you perish.
  • Fish types
    • This game features a variety of fish types & as you advance through the game the fish you encounter get more difficult.
    • If a fish has a number under it you can eat it so long as your fish is the same number or higher.
      • The game keeps adding more sea creatures with higher values until you get up to the octopus and shark region with values in the 700 to 1,000+ range.
    • If a fish does not have a number under it, you can not eat it & it can kill you.
      • You must avoid running into jellyfish, which move roughly horizontal or at a slight angled path across the screen.
      • You must avoid getting caught by an anglerfish, which chases you around the screen. The way to defeat anglerfish is to have them run into a mine & explode.
  • Strategy
    • Starting
      • Early in the game you start off with a rating of 5, which makes you liable to lose to almost any fish you encounter.
      • Quickly eat red fish food pellets and fish that are at or below your rating to level up.
      • If you have trouble seeing the screen you may want to play in full screen mode & play in an area where you are not seeing glare from direct sunlight.
    • Fishing strategy
      • Certain types of fish are slow and easy to catch, while others are much faster. Rather than chasing fast fish horizontally across the screen sometimes it makes sense to play vertically and eat many slower fish.
      • It can be easier to adjust your vertical position and eat oncoming fish than it is to chase fish down from behind.
      • It is typically not worth chasing fish if you are in an area with lots of mines, as it is easy to get stuck by a jellyfish or anglerfish, or accidentally run into a mine.
    • Avoid predators
      • In general it is typically better to play toward the horizontal center of the screen rather than at either edge, so that you do not get hit by new fish coming into frame and have multiple ways to leave if an anglerfish comes chasing after you.
      • Whenever you see an anglerfish adjust your course to move away from it and set it so that a mine is directly between you, so that as it swims toward you it hits the mine and explodes.
    • Fish library strategy
      • Fish tend to be valued in certain ranges by fish types. For instance, sea turtles might be valued from around 400 to 500 points.
      • It is usually best to eat fish where the entire group of fish in that type are rated lower than your fish so that you do not have to look closely at the relative values when determining which fish to eat.
      • If you see a new type of fish while you are playing it is likely to be a high powered fish, so be sure to check their values a few times to see the range before chasing after any of them.
      • When your game score is above 25,000 to 30,000 it is quite easy to keep playing above 100,000 provided you play towards the top of the screen, do not sit too close to mines, keep the screen rather clear of enemies (as best you can), and stay on the lookout for jellyfish and anglerfish.
